How To Use Up Nettles (Recipe Roundup Series)

Oftentimes when we’re faced with an abundance of an herb (like stinging nettles in spring), it’s hard to think of how to use it all up beyond the usual teas, tinctures, and salves. My new recipe roundup series will showcase an herb or a type of dish and a bunch of great ideas for incorporating it into your cooking, to help get those creative juices flowing! These are listed by food idea so you can use the included recipe as a jumping off point for your own explorations or simply let your intuition create a recipe based on the idea. You can find even more recipes on my Nettles Pinterest board here. There are so many wonderful bloggers out there creating beautiful and creative recipes so be sure to check out the links below.

Nettles are one of the stars of spring where I live. As a tonic herb, it’s able to be used daily, giving us lots of opportunity to experiment with using it as a food and enjoy all those leftovers. For more information on Nettles and their benefits, first check out this awesome article on our blog by Nicole G. As she mentions, Nettles have many beneficial vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and chlorophyll that make it a great addition to our diet while they’re plentiful. Nettles can be used similarly to spinach though some people find the taste a bit stronger. Try using cooked Nettles instead of spinach in your favourite recipes and let us know how it goes!
